The aim of this course:
The aim of the course is to develop the project-planning and controlling skills of the students. Interpersonal competences suitable for successful project implementation will be introduced as well. During the course the role of project management cycles, effective planning methods and the personality of the project manager will be examined. Based on their previous studies the students will be able to direct small project groups, cope with deadlines, resources and risks. During the practical seminar the course will highlight the relevance of spatial information systems in modern business development and the special characters of the projects of non-profit organizations.
Competencies to develop:
Know the structure and the functions of for-profit and non-profit organizations
Practiced in the ways of project planning, controlling and in the professional- ethic norms
Conversant with some informatics-based project management methods

Assessment:
The final mark consists of two components with a 50-50% ratio.
On the one hand a written test has to be performed at the end of the term containing the topics covered by the lectures and obligatory literature.
On the other hand a project plan must be elaborated in a form discussed at the seminar.
