Main topics of the course: soil science (soil physics, soil chemistry), agrochemistry (plant nutrients, plant nutrition).

After completion of the subject the student understands of

  • principles of soil science; properties of soils related to plant growth and the environment, biology, chemistry and physics of soils. Includes genesis and classification, as well as widely practical applications of the basic sciences to crop production and environmental protection or restoration --soil survey, fertility, salinity, erosion and chemical pollution.
  • basic knowledge of agrochemistry and basic principles of stoichiometric calculations related to application of mineral fertilizers. Is able to solve problems of elements in system soil-plant-animal-human, is able to apply knowledge in problems related to agrochemistry, is able to identify and prepare of solution agrochemicals and their application in agriculture.
